Grain / Motion is an ongoing personal series about type behaving like a material — letters that assemble from granular fields, hold, and dissolve. The constraint is restraint: monochrome, one motion idea per piece, timing over decoration.
BREAKDOWN
System
Type is sampled into points that are driven by layered noise fields in Cinema 4D, then composited and graded in After Effects. Each piece is one governing curve — the whole series is variations on how the grains resolve into legible letterforms.
SIMULATION NOTES
- Noise seeds are kept per-piece so results are reproducible.
- Legibility window is short by design — the letter is only 'solid' for a beat.
